RUBY & BILLY'S WEDDING AT THE WHITE BARN, SOMERSET

Ruby and Billy celebrated their wedding at The White Barn, a Somerset barn wedding venue, with a bohemian, festival-inspired wedding day.

Festival Fever

Ruby and Billy’s love story began with a chance encounter at a family member's birthday party. Ruby had just returned from a year of adventures in Australia. Billy, having also lived there, started chatting to Ruby about her travels. After the party, Billy messaged Ruby on Facebook and they made plans to meet again at Glastonbury Festival. At the festival, they spent nearly all their time together and their relationship grew.

Five years later, Glastonbury took on even greater significance when Billy proposed in front of the iconic Glastonbury sign. With friends and family as witnesses, he dropped to one knee and asked Ruby to marry him – she said yes, of course!

Somerset Barn Wedding Venue

When it came time to planning the wedding, Ruby had her heart set on a Somerset barn wedding venue.

“I had seen a new wedding venue on social media, even before getting engaged,” Ruby laughs. “I really like the vibe and décor. The White Barn is next door to one of our favourite cafés and when we went to look around we fell in love with the space.”

The Somerset barn wedding venue had an elegant boho aesthetic, which perfectly aligned with the couple’s vision. After their visit, Ruby and Billy instantly knew it was the place where they would tie the knot. With its neutral tones and rustic charm, The White Barn offered the ideal space for their July nuptials.

Dress to Impress

For Ruby, finding her dream wedding dress was effortless. Having found a designer she loved online, Ruby went to try on a selection of Madi Lane dresses at a designer showcase. She took her mum and friend along to the bridal store and fell in love with a dress, placing an order there and then. The a-line gown featured a tulle skirt and delicate embroidery, perfect for her bohemian barn wedding.

The bride completed her look with handmade pearl and Swarovski earrings, pearl anklets and block heels. Forgoing a traditional veil, Ruby wore a dried flower hair clip for a bohemian finish.

Billy opted for a beige linen suit with a crisp white shirt. The groomsmen all wore matching suits and tan shoes. Billy and the groomsmen chose not to add ties or pocket squares to their outfits, opting instead for a pared-back, relaxed look. The finishing touch was dried-flower buttonholes, made by Ruby in the lead-up to the wedding.

The bridesmaids stunned in Champagne tea-length, wrap dresses with matching hair bows. Rounding up the bridal party, the flower girl looked adorable in a butterfly dress.

Decor and Details

Ruby and Billy embraced a boho theme for their wedding, with a neutral colour scheme of white, cream and beige. Dried florals, featuring pampas dress and bunny tails, and macrame details made the theme come to life.

Real wedding inspiration inbound with plenty of handcrafted decor. Ruby created dried floral arrangements, while her mum made the flower-shaped charger plates from plaster. Each table was styled with frayed table runners, glass jars of dried flowers and and candle sticks.

The tables were named after iconic Glastonbury stages, in a nod to their journey. Guests found their seats using tarot-themed name cards, continuing the festival inspiration.

The two-tier, buttercream cake was decorated with dried flowers to match the overall aesthetic and displayed with cupcakes on a rustic dresser.

Picture Perfect

Ruby and Billy were so pleased with their photographs.

“Jon’s editing style was exactly what we were looking for,” Billy reveals. “Choosing Jon was one of our best wedding decisions. Jon made us feel completely at ease throughout the planning process and on the big day. The candid shots he captured, especially during the speeches and in the flower meadow, were our favourites.”
