Clare and Stephen’s Holbrook Manor wedding day

Holbrook Manor wedding venue in Somerset set the scene for this relaxed and rustic wedding

It is always a pleasure to capture weddings in the county that I live in. As a Somerset wedding photographer, Holbrook Manor wedding venue is one of my personal favourites and I was honoured to capture Clare and Stephen’s sunny Somerset wedding day.

A SEASIDE PROPOSAL

Clare and Stephen met in their home village of Abbotsbury in Dorset. The pair became inseparable, but it wasn’t until November 2021 that Stephen dropped down on one knee and asked Clare to marry him.

The couple were in Torquay for a romantic weekend away when Steven popped the question. An excited Clare, of course, said yes! Shortly after, they started searching for their dream wedding venue.

The 8th of September 2023 was set as the date for their Holbrook Manor wedding day and the planning began!

Aisle Style

Clare made her bridal entrance in an elegant a-line gown that was perfect for the couple’s Holbrook Manor wedding venue. Beautiful beaded lace cascaded from the plunging neckline down the top of the dress before flowing into a dreamy tulle skirt with a sweeping train.

“I found my dress super easily,” admits Clare. “I only visited two boutiques and fell in love with a dress I never expected I would wear!”

Following tradition by wearing something old, new, borrowed and blue, Clare accessorised with pearl earrings that were a wedding gift from Stephen, a borrowed bracelet from her best friend and new heels with a blue leather strip sewn into the soles.

Stephen looked dapper in a dark green, checked suit and a black bowtie. He completed his look with personalised cufflinks gifted to him by Clare.

“Finding Stephen’s suit was a nightmare! We went to lots of different shops and returned suits weekly. We finally managed to find the perfect suit after three months of searching,” the couple laugh.

The bridesmaids wore mix-and-match gowns, choosing their preferred neckline, in the same dark green chiffon. The groomsmen all stepped out in grey suits with dark green ties to match the bridesmaids’ gowns and Stephen’s suit.

Holbrook Manor Wedding Venue

The couple had their heart set on a venue with beautiful grounds and fell in love with the Holbrook Manor estate as soon as they saw it.

Holbrook Manor wedding venue is a beautiful Georgian country manor surrounded by acres of manicured gardens and woodland.

“We really wanted an outdoor ceremony and the grounds at Holbrook Manor were so beautiful, we knew instantly it was the venue for us,” the couple reveal. “On the wedding day, we were so lucky with the weather. The sun shone and we were able to say our vows outside with the woodland in front of us and the country house behind us.”

After the ceremony, the couple and their 65 guests enjoyed drinks and canapés on the lawns in front of the manor house. As a Somerset wedding photographer, it is such a pleasure to be able to capture outdoor weddings surrounded by the rolling countryside.

Details and Decor

Clare and Stephen themed their wedding with a white and green colour scheme and rustic details.

“Holbrook Manor wedding venue is already so beautiful, we didn’t want to over-style it,” Clare tells us. “We wanted the venue to speak for itself.” Aiming for a relaxed vibe, the couple styled their venue with wooden signs, log slice place name holders and milk churns filled with fresh flowers.

“Following the green and white theme, our flower arrangements were made up of white hydrangea, garden roses, gypsophila and eucalyptus,” says Clare.

Even the cake was in keeping with the theme. The couple chose a white, three-tier semi-naked cake decorated with fresh flowers. Each tier was a different flavour, with something for everyone to enjoy.

Perfect Pose

Choosing your wedding photographer is such an important decision. You will spend a lot of time with them on the day and the photographs they capture will be treasured for years to come– so you want them to be perfect!

As a Somerset wedding photographer, I am a recommended supplier for Holbrook Manor weddings. Clare and Stephen approached me after seeing my work online. They were hoping to have relaxed wedding photographs that captured every moment.

“We are not posey people. Having natural shots was important to us both,” the couple explain. “We loved Jon’s work from what we saw online. When we met Jon in person we thought he was great, he’s professional but someone you can easily have a laugh with and feel comfortable around. He is very down-to-earth and that was what we liked most about him. The type of photographs we had been hoping for were exactly what we got! We are so happy we chose Jon as our wedding photographer.”

When I asked the couple what the best wedding decisions they made were their answer was very romantic.

“Choosing each other to marry! We were happy with every decision we made for our wedding day and we wouldn’t change a thing.”
