PHIL & CONNOR'S CROWCOMBE COURT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Phil and Connor tied the knot at a Crowcombe Court in May where I was honoured to be their wedding photographer. On a scorching hot Monday the venue looked every bit as amazing as you would imagine with incredible florals incredible deck or and an breathtakingly stunning cake by holly Miller. (I've never taken so many cake photos)

I was particularly excited that this wedding was going ahead as one of the grooms, Phil, suffered an injury to his hip just a couple of months before the wedding which would put the whole day into jeopardy; so the fact that it was going ahead was a huge relief to all of their friends and family who really wanted to see the two tie the knot.

ORIGINAL WEDDING PREPARATIONS

Phil and Connor didn't want to stick to usual traditions and wanted their wedding to be totally unique to them so they decided to break traditions of not seeing each other on the wedding morning and get ready together. This was an incredibly unique Internet and personal way for the two of them to ensure that they spent the entire day together and shared all of the emotions anticipation and excitement that comes with a wedding morning and helped create some incredibly unique photography that is that is like nothing else I've ever shot before, so for me it was really interesting and really different.

They got married in the unmistakable grand hall at Crowcombe Court with their closest friends and family and their Husky, Storm who stole the show. They were then blessed with great weather for their drinks reception whilst we took their family portrait photos just before they were escorted in by their wedding coordinator Jade for their wedding breakfast and their speeches in the stunning dining room.

One of my favourite things about shooting at Crowcombe Court is that each part of your wedding day takes place in a different part of the building and each is as stunning as the next. It means for me as a photographer there are always unique photos to be taken and it provides a great deal of variety throughout a couples wedding collection which I really like.

I also think it's really good for wedding guests because it means their move from different locations to enjoy different parts of the day rather than being moved in and out of a single space as it is turned around for the next part of the day; like being turned around from the ceremony to the wedding breakfast for example. So for that reason I really like the way it works.

Most importantly for me all of these areas are really well let which mean I'm able to operate with natural light which is always my first preference. Until you get to the evening reception of course which is hosted in the undercroft, another truly unique setting that is a part of this venue.

As a wedding photographer in Somerset I often judge a venue alright food and the food at Crowcombe Court is some of the best around so thank you to the Crowcombe Court staff for always keeping me really well fed!

GOLDEN HOUR WEDDING PORTRAITS

Somethings just go better together and probably always will…. Like sunsets and couples photos (if you now the Luke Combs song you should enquire now)

These guys were blessed with a beautiful sunset for us to shoot in for the newlywed portraits. When I work through my consultation process with my clients , Plan A for their couples portraits is always to do them in the golden hour. The soft golden lighting totally elevates your Wedding photography and provides that soft, romantic aesthetic that makes photos really sing.

I work with couples to make this whole process feel quite natural, quite organic and quite efficient. For me I'm aiming to strike a balance between getting that variety and quantity of great newlywed shots and not keeping you away from your celebration for too long at the wrong times. It's equally important to me that we get this amazing stuff , and get stuff that you LOVE, but I also don't want this to totally dominate your Wedding day. So how we do it, and when we do it is well planned in advanced in our pre Wedding meeting.

NIGHT TIME IN THE UNDERCROFT

Phil & Connor were only going to do this once, so they went all in and extended their coverage 2 hours beyond their first dance to capture lots of the antics of their guests who were having an absolutely amazing time led by Enhanced entertainment. It also meant we could take a few minutes for some cool night time shots that look really good in the Wedding album they've just bought.

Late coverage is highly recommended if you have a particularly vibrant bunch of guests who part hard. This lot were amazing fun! And the more they drank the less scared they were of the camera!!

It's a great way to finish off your Wedding photography, particularly if you have additional evening guests coming to your reception who weren't there in the day.
